Women Ministers Not To Join Viveka Campaign !
In an obvious setback to former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy, Congress candidate in the by-elections to Pulivendula assembly seat, women ministers in the Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet are learnt to have expressed their inability to campaign for him.
Though Kiran has asked women ministers including Sabita Indra Reddy, Galla Aruna Kumari, Suneetha Lakshma Reddy and D K Aruna to campaign for Viveka in the by-elections, they reportedly excused themselves, saying they would not like to campaign against Y Vijayalakshmi, widow of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, though she is contesting as a rival candidate from YSR Congress party.
“Our conscience does not permit to campaign against a woman, that too, wife our departed leader. Moreover, people would question us why we are campaigning against the wife of YSR, who had given us political life,” they reportedly said.
However, they have agreed to campaign in other assembly segments falling under Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency, against Jaganmohan Reddy, who is going all out against party president Sonia Gandhi. The Chief Minister apparently said no thanks.
